• Entire folders may be processed by selecting the Process All or Merge All buttons in the file picker window. All files shown are processed and placed into a new folder or merged into a single file.
• Customizable character remapping tables can remap incoming or outgoing characters to facilitate document transfer to and from “foreign” systems that use different character mapping. These tables can be manipulated using Add/Strip’s companion application, Edit Add/Strip™.
• Up to 225 general replacement sets and 125 line searching replacement sets may be defined. Matching for individual replacement sets may be made case insensitive by selecting the Ignore case checkbox in the Replacement Strings window. Several different kinds of wildcard characters are also supported.
• Processing options, including comments, may be stored in settings files for recall. Default settings may also be specified. Favorite settings files can be displayed in a hierarchical Load Settings menu for easy access.
• Input and output folders can be chosen for auto-processing. Files located in the input folder will be processed and automatically placed in the designated output folder.
• A/S scans itself and its help files for common viruses when A/S is opened.
• Because A/S reads documents in chunks rather than in one gulp, it can operate using less RAM and can process files up to 1.2 gigabytes by “nibbling” its way through each file.
• In most cases, buttons may be selected by typing the first letter, or command-first letter if an edit text item is in the window, of its title. Command-period and Esc select Cancel buttons.
• Pressing command-z undoes all changes made in a dialog window. This is like pressing the Cancel button, except the window doesn’t close.
• Pressing the tab key selects the contents of the next (or only) edit text field. If the Shift key is down, the previous field is selected.
• Arrow keys or < and > keys may be used to manipulate scroll bars and sliders. Movement is by page if a command, option, shift or control key is down. Page Up, Page Down, Home, and End keys may also be used.
• Cut, Copy, and Paste command key equivalents or function keys F2, F3, and F4 on extended keyboards may be used in text boxes.
• File or folder information in may be shown in file selection windows.
• Color or b&w animated cursors (like those in the Finder) may be used.
• A/S is completely compatible with System 7, supporting Balloon Help, background processing, and the required suite of AppleEvents.
